About Me
I like doing things that are a bit difficult or look like a fun challenge. I think 'type 2' fun might be my favourite kind...

I'm a fairly normal office worker most of the time doing various office-y type things like sitting still and pretending to work or commuting to work on my trusty steed. In the evenings and weekends I'm an Officer in the Army Reserve with an Artillery Regiment which is quite a lot more fun but a fair amount of responsibility as well.

The seed was sown for the long distance cycling bug way back in 2010 when I was the one being roped into a 600 miles in 6 days ride from London to Galway, Ireland. That ride also cemented the idea that all big physical efforts should finish with a lot of beer! I then took a short 8 year break from cycling and have now decided to pursue it again with a vengeance.

I'm also recently engaged and am eternally grateful that I have a fiancée who puts up with me doing stuff like this and spending a lot (most) of my disposable income on bicycle-y based things. I've also managed to persuade her to get a bike so she will hopefully be joining me on some of my rides.

Im putting this site together mainly to help me remember and catalogue my journey from cycle commuter to hopeful Transcontinental Race finisher in 2020, which will be my 30th year on planet earth so seems a good year for a challenge (although I'll take being an 'attempt-er' to be fair).
I'm on the right hand side of the picture, Charlie on the left was the one who got hypothermia.
